Family-Friendly Things to do in Vegas
Founded in 1905, Las Vegas is one of the newest cities in the United States. Moreover, it is no secret that Las Vegas has a reputation as America’s very own Sin City.
The first casinos on what is today the Las Vegas Strip opened their doors in the 1930s. Since this time, the Nevada desert city has grown into a neon desert beacon of tongue in cheek (and occasionally not so tongue in cheek) debauchery. Contrary to what you might think, though, there are things to do in Las Vegas for families with young children.
Family Attractions & Things to do in Las Vegas
As surprising as it might sound, families who visit Vegas will often be wowed by just how many family-friendly attractions Vegas has to offer. From taking in city views from a replica of the Eiffel Tower to nature visits to nearby Red Rock Canyon, Las Vegas is almost like a big kids playground.
For families who love nature, day trips to places like Red Rock Canyon and Zion National Park will see adults and children experience incredible desert panoramas. Even better, after parking in Zion, free shuttles are available which ferry visitors between the most stunning sights and places of interest.
Things to do in Vegas – Head for the Casinos
Casinos might not sound like the most family-friendly of places. However, several famous Las Vegas casinos feature must-see, non-adult attractions. Families can, therefore, ride faux Italian Gondolas at the Venetian Hotel. Alternatively, at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino, families with children can stroll through incredible botanical gardens, before watching the Bellagio’s famous fountains light up in the evening.
Vegas Water Parks & Circus Attractions
Temperatures in Las Vegas can be scorching in summer. However, the Cowabunga Bay Water Park in Vegas makes it easy to escape the sizzling desert heat. Featuring huge pools and water slides, the park is a favorite among children of all ages. Even better, at the Circus Circus Hotel and Casino Adventuredome, parents can treat children to a wide variety of theme park attractions, including rollercoasters and water rides.
Las Vegas Shows for Kids
No trip to Vegas is complete without watching a show or two. Thankfully, many shows are rated as family-friendly and are guaranteed to delight children of all ages. Just a few such shows include the famous Tournament of Kings Arthurian legend show at the Excalibur Hotel & Casino, and the Blue Man Group musical extravaganza at the Las Vegas Luxor.
Las Vegas Dangers
Las Vegas has one main rule. If possible, never stray from the main strip at night. Do this, and you should feel as safe as in any other city. Also, it is advisable not to buy refreshments or show passes from street hawkers. Most if not all passes will be counterfeit, and will not allow you to enjoy the show in question.
